Owners Mick and Jackie travel to Kentucky to select each vintage whiskey barrel that will be turned into a Reel Barrel product. Every Reel Barrel is individually handcrafted in our shop in beautiful Kodak, Tennessee, located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
The idea for the Reel Barrel started at home. The Reel Barrel was born from the frustration of repeatedly purchasing plastic garden hose reels and storage boxes that would always end up the same way – as a broken, tipped over eyesore.
The market has never seen a garden accessory like the Reel Barrel. We were in need of something functional that was also pleasing to look at. We knew that if we needed it, so did other home and business owners, and the idea of marketing the garden hose accessory that served us so well in our own home began in 2005.
In 2005, we decided it was time to market our patented Reel Barrel to the public. From there we added the Reel Trash Barrel, and in 2010 we added the Reel Rain Barrel. We are helping to protect the environment by repurposing these vintage used whiskey barrels into items that people will love and enjoy for years to come.
